Twilight Interview 09/22/2009
why do you like twilight? why do you think it's so popular? what is your favorite character and why? do you think that everyone should read it? why? what age range do you think twilight is most popular with? do you think there are any lessons people can learn from it? are any of the characters relateble? what is the main theme of twilight? I like twilight because I love all of Edwards imperfections, and how he's so tortured inside, how he's being torn up inside because of his feelings for a human. I think it's popular because people missunderstand the point and character if Edward. They see him as a hot perfect man, without reading into the story. My favorite character would b the entire nomad clan. I loved the fact that they were the normal classification of vampires, they 'eat' humans and are basically evil by nature, it's fun and makes for a good story! I think people should read it if they want an easy read on a love story, the writhing is bad and people take it for the wrong story but otherwise a good book! I think the age range is along the line of 14-23 although I have met a lot of 40+ yer oldsters who love it! I think people can learn that the most unlikley things can happen when you least expect them, they can be wonderful or terrible! I think as a whole the entire book is relatable, bits and pieces taken from every character. There are two main, equally important themes, first and most obviously is forbidden love. Secondly, that true love can wistand everything and this second one applies to the entire saga. Twilight Article I am a part of! 09/22/2009
Teens are Taking a Big Bite Out of this Book by Laura Wigodner The book of vampires, werewolves and humans has so many teens up in chilling excitement that it’s almost impossible to put the book down. Twilight, by Stephanie Meyer, has become so intensely read among mainly teenage girls, that it’s becoming more popular each day. Could it be because of the mysteriously attractive vampire, Edward Cullen? Readers dig deeper into the story as Edward falls in love with a human, Bella Swan. Rachel Plotkin, ’11 says that the book is popular because people misunderstand the point of Edward’s character. Many people first see him as perfect, relaxed, and very confident. But as they get farther into the story, they come to realize that he is not as he appears. He gets very torn up inside because of his feelings for Bella. The fact that this average girl is put in an unusual situation could also be why so many people like the books. “Every girl wants to be in this great fantasy world and put themselves in Bella’s shoes. That’s why this series is so popular,” says Vicky Prokopiuk, ’12. It’s highly likely that teenage girls enjoy this series because of the relate-able character of Bella. Being a shy, unconfident and troubled teen, Bella is just like average girls. “Bella is most relate-able because sometimes you have to do things that you never though you’d be doing such as moving, like Bella does,” says Zoey Gubitoso, ’13. Twilight contains many important lessons that the readers can learn from. The biggest one that teens should pick up on is expecting the unexpected. “I think people can learn that the most unlikely things can happen when you least expect them,” says Plotkin. “They can be wonderful or terrible.” Plotkin also says that the biggest theme in the book is forbidden love and how it can withstand anything. Readers are taken in by this and it makes them realize how important and powerful love truly is. “ Edward and Bella prove that love conquers all no matter what,” says Gubitoso. HI LOVERS 09/01/2009
